Gwyn Dolphin named new Tourism Western Australia Chief Executive
Having been acting in the role since July, Gwyn Dolphin has been confirmed as new Chief Executive of Tourism Western Australia.
Dolphin has been leading the organisation while an international search was undertaken and before assuming that function, was the acting Executive Director in Tourism WA's markets and partnerships area, overseeing all international and domestic activity. Prior to that, he was the Executive Director of Events.
In his roles at Tourism WA, Dolphin oversaw the establishment of the Margaret River Gourmet Escape as a key visitation event for Western Australia, and the relocation of the Hopman Cup into Perth Arena.
He also developed the plan of major events for Perth Stadium, which has recently led to the announcements of State of Origin and Bledisloe Cup matches to be held in Western Australia.
Announcing the appointment, Western Australian Premier Colin Barnett said Dolphin brought significant marketing, event and leadership expertise, as well as international experience to the role, which would be instrumental in continuing to drive and support the Western Australian tourism industry.
Tourism Western Australia Chair Peter Prendiville said he was very pleased with the decision and looked forward to working with Dolphin to continue to grow the economic contribution of tourism in Western Australia.
Prior to joining Tourism WA, Gwyn was Group Marketing Director at Millennium Stadium/ Welsh Rugby Union, and previously Managing Partner in the WPP global marketing network, covering specialised areas in marketing, sponsorship and media, and leading international teams for Vodafone and Ford.
Dolphin has been appointed for a five-year term, which starts today.
