Grants available to host fitness classes for Northern Territory Seniors
The Northern Territory Government is recognising older Territorians and active ageing through the Seniors Month Grant program with aerobics, tai chi, yoga, and fitness classes among the activities for which funding is available.
The 2023 Seniors Month Grant round is open for organisations and businesses to apply for up to $2,000 in funding to support an event or activity for senior Territorians during Seniors Month.
An annual month-long celebration held in August each year, Seniors Month provides an opportunity for seniors to celebrate positive aspects of ageing and for all Territorians to recognise the contribution that Territory seniors make to our communities.
Activities can range from come-and-try or information sessions, to fitness classes, reading groups, inter-generational activities and more.
This is a competitive grant round prioritising innovative events that support older people to have a healthy lifestyle, become involved in a new activity or connect to the community.
Seniors Month aims to offer activities and opportunities demonstrating that senior years can be a time of learning and adventure.
NT Minister for Seniors Lauren Moss notes “Senior Territorians make a huge contribution to our community, and are an important part of our families, friend groups and workplaces” and adds that
the NT Government “values and respects the positive role that older Territorians play across our communities, with Seniors Month providing an opportunity to recognise and celebrate these incredible Territorians.”
Seniors Month Grants 2023 are open until 23rd April 2023.
