Granties Maze finally opens on the NSW South Coast

More than 30 years after it was first planned, the Granties Maze attraction at Foxground near Gerringong on the NSW South Coast has opened to the public.

After numerous delays and three decades of conflict with authorities over access to and the development of the attraction, Granties Maze was able to admit visitors for the first time on Monday 28th December.

The hedge maze, a long planned development by real estate professional John Grant, was first planted back in 1985 when Grant first conceived of his planned attraction. Now mature, the maze is ready for visitors and sits at the heart of Granties Maze which is enhanced by the presence of 16 other attractions including mini golf, canoes, electric cars, picnic areas, giant chess, trampolines and amusement rides.

Measuring 100 metres by 50 metres, the maze has been mature and ready for visitors for some years while Grant has endured many years of conflict with Kiama Municipal Council and NSW Government roads agencies on a range of planning issues.

During these years, its opening has been planned, then postponed on numerous occasions ... until this week.

A delighted John Grant told Australasian Leisure Management “after all these years it has been wonderful to be able to welcome children and families to the attraction.

“We now look forward to a successful first season and many years of being able to welcome visitors.”
