Goodlife celebrates healthy 10 year milestone

This year marks 10 years since one of Australia's growing gym networks, Goodlife Health Clubs, opened its doors with its first club in Queensland.

Since then it has grown to 44 locations across Australia.

With 2012 fitness fads already taking centre stage, this year is set to be big for the health and fitness industry and Goodlife has already turned its focus to making the next decade even more successful than the first.

Goodlife Health Clubs Chief Execuitve Greg Oliver is a key player in the fitness and gym industry and, with over 35 years of industry experience under his belt, he's the right person to be leading Goodlife into the next decade.

Oliver explains "the tenth anniversary is a huge milestone for Goodlife and it's been a great opportunity to look back and see how far we've come, from our humble beginnings with one club in Bardon, to over 133,000 members nationally.

"It's onwards and upwards for us now and 2012 is all about constantly improving what we do. We might not be the biggest in the market but we aim to be the best."

Proving they're fighting fit, Goodlife is set to add two new clubs to their existing portfolio, with openings planned later this year.

Oliver adds "Goodlife is committed to providing a fun, engaging and supportive environment that inspires our members.

"We want to continue to offer affordable fitness solutions across Australia and fill the gap in locations we don't currently have a presence in so that we can be a truly national brand.

"It's all about providing consistently excellent quality of service and striving to achieve international standards in the significant aspects of our operations," he said.

Bearing witness to the growth of the Goodlife brand over the years, long-standing employee Jacqueline Wilson has been a part of the business since it commenced 10 years ago and is excited about the future.

Wilson states "it's been an adventure to see the growth of not only the Goodlife brand but also of gyms and the fitness industry in general.

"Gyms are not just for fit people. It's all about providing people with the means and assistance to live a long, happy and healthy life and we're definitely starting to see a lot more of that now.

"We get people of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels and varying goals, whether it's to lose weight, meet new people, get active or engage with personal trainers and seek information about health and weight loss.

"I can hardly believe I've been working with Goodlife for 10 years, it's just flown by so fast! It's definitely a great milestone and we look forward to continuing the celebrations in Club - we can't promise there'll be cake but we can promise an exciting year ahead!"
