German trade show at the intersection between fitness and health

Germany's FIBO, Europe's leading international trade show for fitness, wellness and health, brings suppliers of health-oriented training equipment and concepts together with not only fitness and recreation industry professionals but also with and physicians and physiotherapists.

In 2013, due to the continuously increasing demand for exhibition space, FIBO is moving from the Essen Exhibition Centre to the Cologne Exhibition Centre, where it was founded in 1985.

At its new location in Cologne, it will now have even more space to present the interface between fitness and health.

As Event Director Olaf Tomscheit explains "FIBO has an enormous potential in the medical fitness segment. Together with our exhibitors, we aim at opening up even more to the health market."

The development of visitor numbers at FIBO demonstrates that this is the right course: in 2012, one in five trade visitors came from the health sector.

Many of the industry's key players are adapting their product ranges to the requirements of the health market and launching special training equipment for rehabilitation purposes.

Looking back on FIBO 2012, HUR Deutschland GmbH Managing Director Thomas Lampert recalls "we did excellent business and were very satisfied with the visitor quality.

"German studio operators and physiotherapists in particular presented concrete investment projects. The FIBOmed concept meets the needs of the times perfectly: we also definitely notice that studios are orienting themselves towards the themes of health, prevention, older users."

FIBOmed is a joint exhibition and lecture area open to health-oriented trade and private visitors. It includes the 'Check Up' health boulevard is offered by the German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention (DGSP) where visitors can have their state of fitness and health checked.

In the FIBO 'Work Out' health boulevard, exhibitors present individual thematic units, each dealing with a particular disease or problem area. Here Technogym will demonstrate solutions for the cardiovascular complex, Frei AG for the back and h/p/cosmos sports & medical GmbH in performance diagnostics.

At the lecture Forum, the FIBOmed Seminars will be held on the fitness, health and medicine theme.

FIBO 2013 is being held from 11th to 14th April at the Cologne Exhibition Centre, Germany.
