Genesis Health and Fitness partners with Ozharvest for June promotion in NSW
Exercisers attending a Genesis Health + Fitness gym in NSW this month will be contributing towards a significant donation to OzHarvest, Australia's leading food rescue organisation.
Genesis facilities around NSW, including clubs in the Newcastle and Hunter valley region, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Toormina are hoping to reach a target of 125,000 visits and will then donate $10,000 to OzHarvest to enable the delivery of an additional 20,000 meals to those in need.
Visits will also include those who attend as part of a free five-day pass so it costs nothing to help. Current members can also bring a friend to train for free.
Encouraging people to get moving for a good cause, Genesis club owner, John Pirlo stated “we wanted to enable people to make a positive impact to the community simply by showing up at the gym. Every visit counts, whether you come and do a class or hit the treadmill for 15 mins.
“Every visit gets us closer to the goal and ultimately supports OzHarvest’s mission.”
Founded by Ronni Kahn AO in 2004 after noticing the huge volume of food going to waste, OzHarvest has grown to become Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, saving surplus food from ending up in landfill and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need.
Advising that this is an exciting initiative by Genesis and that the organisation is grateful for the support, OzHarvest National Partnerships Manager, Lisa Dainty stated “this initiative is a wonderful example of how businesses can support their communities.
“By encouraging people to stay active, Genesis is not only promoting a healthy lifestyle but also helping us provide meals to those who need it most. We look forward to seeing the community come together for this cause."
Participating locations in NSW are at Cessnock, Cooks Hill, Maitland, Mayfield, Thornton, Warner’s Bay, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Toormina.
