Gecko Kids Fitness set to open seventh club
Gecko Kids Fitness is to open its latest 'kids only' fitness centre at Feelgood Fitness in the Brisbane suburb of Warwick on 3rd May.
Gecko currently has six licenses operating in Victoria and, with a further 30 licenses sold, is rolling out clubs in Victoria, NSW and Queensland.
Determined to build a fitter future for children, Gecko opened Australia's first 'kids only' fitness centre in 2006.
Described by parents as "a kids exercise paradise" full of specific age appropriate equipment, running tracks, circuits, obstacle courses, colours and music - Gecko is a cool, fun place that kids see as their own.
Their first centre had over 400 members aged between five and 16 years within six months and was running 40 childrens activity classes per week.
Gecko programs change every week and are age appropriate, fully supervised and designed for children of all abilities - from 'lounge lizards' just wanting to get active and try something new to sports conditioning for youth athletes.
The coaches, as they are called, are young, athletic role models helping children build speed, skill, strength and stamina through engaging circuits, indoor boot camp, water fights, team challenges, obstacle courses and games.
For licencees, Gecko provides equipment kit, merchandise, training, weekly video programs, full branding rights, marketing templates and calendars, retention strategies and ongoing webinars and support allowing clubs to make up to $50,000 profit from their Gecko license.
Owner Sam Wood recently told Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper that Gecko centres were based on fun, stating "we're not about fat kids, we're not about elite athletes - we're about the whole spectrum.
"There are no mirrors, weights or treadmills - it's just a fun place for kids to come and get fit."
