Funding available for Queensland active industry startups
The $4 million second round of Queensland Government’s ActiveKIT is now open until 18th August, presenting an opportunity to generate legacy by leveraging sporting knowledge and technology to innovate and drive physical activity, regardless of age and ability.
Up to $200,000 is available for active industry start-ups or small to medium-sized business with trailblazing solutions from phone apps to guided hiking programs for women.
Queensland Sport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe notes “ActiveKIT in partnership with Health and Wellbeing Queensland is about harnessing innovative ideas to get Queenslanders active more often.”
The Queensland Government’s Active Clubs program has also supported the winter sporting season with $3.38 million for 1690 Queensland sport and active recreation clubs.
Minister Hinchliffe added “Active Clubs funding is flexible, so it can be used to develop the skills of umpires, coaches and volunteers, buy new equipment, or support sporting carnivals and sign-on days.
“We know sporting carnivals bring competitors from out of town and are important for supporting visitor economies, particularly in regional Queensland.”
Accelerate includes a forward timetable of grant programs to provide certainty and give clubs more time to plan funding applications.
“On the runway to 2032, we’ll be investing in major sporting events from carnivals and international training camps to planning World Cup legacies including cricket’s T20 Men’s and the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” Minister Hinchliffe continued.
“Outstanding sporting facilities and clubs give Queensland the platform to confirm our State’s reputation as a global sport and tourism destination."
