Fresh snow alert at Hotham and Falls Creek
Wednesday night snowfalls across Falls Creek and Hotham Alpine Resorts have been welcomed by guests and are set to boost snow quality over the coming days.
At Falls Creek, 23 centimetres of fresh snow fell on Wednesday night with average natural snowdepth is heading to the 1 metre mark.
Sister resort Hotham received 20 centimetres of fresh snow and with continued snow falls across Hotham and Dinner Plain, snow has fallen down to 1000 metres with the Hotham Airport runway being cleared of snow ready for the next arrivals with QantasLink. The average natural snowdepth at Hotham is now 81 cm.
As a result, Hotham's 'Heavenly Valley First Tracks' commence yesterday for the first time this season, the Australia Drift T-Bar opened while Hotham's Extreme Zone and Gotcha Chair are currently being assessed.
At Falls Creek, International and Lakeside areas are being assessed for opening soon.
Snowmaking has been underway at both resorts and, with more snow in the forecast, the resorts could potentially see another 35 cm fresh snow on top of the recent falls by Wednesday next week.
