Free outdoor fitness circuit opens at Queenstown Events Centre
Alpine Health & Fitness and Mayor Vanessa van Uden have celebrated the opening of a free community outdoor fitness circuit at the Queenstown Events Centre (QEC).
Two circuits, 1.1 and 1.5 kilometres in length, follow the natural terrain of the QEC boundary with the two running tracks broken up by six and 13 exercise stations respectively. The circuits are suitable for all fitness levels with each station having full instructions and beginner and advanced options available.
Specialised outdoor strength equipment located on the 1.5 kilometre circuit includes dips bars, a chest press, cross trainers, chin-up bars and an abdominal curl bench. A map located at the circuits starting point will highlight the location of each station and the exercise machines.
Alpine Health & Fitness Manager Richie Heap said he was extremely pleased to be able to open the circuit and give the wider community the opportunity to try something different.
Heap explained "we all get bored with our fitness routines from time to time so I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there who will be really keen to give the circuit a go. It's great for our gym members to be able to take their training outdoors at this time of year, and anyone else in our community can take advantage of using some high quality strength equipment free of charge."
Queenstown Mayor van Uden officiated the opening of the circuit on Saturday with Alpine Health & Fitness staff on hand to help people get familiar with the equipment and answer their questions they may have.
Alpine Health & Fitness is independently funded through membership revenue and casual users which has also funded the purchase of the circuit equipment and running tracks establishment.
