Four Australian and New Zealand cities compete in 2016 Ultimate Sports City Awards
Auckland, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney have all been shortlisted for SportBusiness International’s Ultimate Sports City of 2016.
The four cities will compete against 26 other global cities which have made the cut. The 2016 awards are based on each city’s major events calendars between 2012 and 2020.
The reigning 2014 Ultimate Sports City is London. Melbourne won the title in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
Shortlisted cities will be evaluated on a range of criteria including: venues, transport and infrastructure, accommodation, government and public support and security.
The top five cities in each category will be announced in March and the overall winner and category winners announced at the SportAccord Convention in Switzerland in April.
