Football Federation Victoria welcomes $7 million facility investment in Wendouree West
With football participation enjoying ongoing growth in Wendouree West, Football Federation Victoria (FFV) has welcomed the Victorian Government’s announcement of $7 million facility upgrade proposal.
The redevelopment of Wendouree West Recreation Reserve project will include a new pavilion and community hub, new football pitches and lighting for night games.
Community football is growing quickly, with around 1200 participants in the Ballarat area and predictions that the number will reach nearly 2000 players by 2026.
Announcing the funding, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews stated “at its core, community sport is all about community spirit (and) with this investment, we’ll help make this strong community even stronger.”
“From our next great soccer stars to local pups - this will be a space everyone can enjoy.”
FFV Chief Executive Peter Filopoulos said the announcement showed the strong strategic alignment between all stakeholders in the game, adding “it is an exciting time for Football and FFV welcomes facility initiatives that continue to deliver on FFV's strategic priorities.
"Football continues to succeed as the activity that gives all Victorians access to a vibrant and open sporting community.
“More places to play and better facilities for our football communities will enhance the experience of being involved in the World Game."
