Fitness Forum to address future-proofing the industry

Key issues facing the fitness industry will be explored at the Fitness Australia Health and Fitness Industry Forum, to be held on Friday 14th October.
Preceeding the 2011 Australian Health and Fitness Industry Awards being held on Friday evening, the event will bring together leading industry businesses and professionals. The Forum will also explore the impact of a changing population demographic on the industry.
Keynote presentations will include:
ï¾ Dr Lisa Studdert, who will explore the role and purpose of Australian National Preventive Health Agency (ANPHA), it's strategic direction and how the fitness industry may play a role in assisting the Agency to meet its objectives around preventative health; and
ï¾ Demographer and social researcher, Mark McCrindle, who will talk about the impact of Australia's growing and ageing population.
Following the keynote speakers, a panel of industry experts will discuss the topics raised and how the fitness industry needs to prepare to take advantage of future opportunities and effectively manage the risks associated with an ageing population.
Fitness Australia Chief Executive Lauretta Stace explains "the Industry Forum offers a unique opportunity for professionals working throughout the industry to put forward their proposals for the future of the industry.
"We can make lasting positive changes that will drive the growth and development of our industry." The day-long Forum is open to everyone in the health and fitness industries and presents a unique opportunity to discuss ways of addressing the challenges facing the industry, both now and in the future.
The event is being held at the Hilton Hotel, Brisbane and costs $15 for Fitness Australia members and $25 for non-members.
