Fitness First to launch budget club brand in UK

Global fitness club operator Fitness First is to launch a new budget gym brand in the United Kingdom.

The group closed nine of its clubs earlier this month to convert them to the new Klick Fitness brand.

The clubs, none of which are located in London or the south of England, will reopen as Klick Fitness clubs in September.

Klick Head of Central Operations Jason Worthy told UK media that the launch of the new clubs will be phased, stating "the first set of clubs will open during the week commencing 5th September and the second batch during the week of 19th September."

Worthy added that the company is looking to open future clubs under the Klick banner, adding "this is a market that we expect to grow very quickly."

Klick Fitness will offer monthly memberships at a cost of £9.99 (AUS$15) and annual memberships for £99.99 (AUS$150).

At this time Fitness First have not revealed if they are planning to launch the brand in Australia.
