Fitness First move to 24/7 operations aims to align with changing work and lifestyle habits

Just in time for summer, select Fitness First clubs across Australia are to transition to 24/7 opening - providing members with the option of accessing premium facilities during the hours that suit them.

Describing the move as a recognition of the cultural shift towards more agile working arrangements and a greater focus on work life balance, Fitness First General Manager David Aitchison explains “as a fitness leader, Fitness First is committed to supporting our members to go further by keeping fitness interesting, and we’re continually investing in our clubs, staff and facilities with the latest innovations and technology - ensuring our members receive the most value from their membership.

“We know that life is not always as regular as clockwork, everyone is different and for many, normal opening hours just don’t fit within their lifestyle. As such, we are committed to helping members go further in their everyday lives, no matter what their schedule is; so that is why we have decided to keep our doors open 24/7 to make sure that we fit around our members and not the other way around.

“Whether you work late, start early or find that you’re most motivated late at night or just before dawn, Fitness First wants to provide a safe environment for our members to train at a time that suits them.”

To help members get the most from their training, no matter what hour they choose to hit the gym, Fitness First has developed a guide of recommendations around training at all times of the day or night.

Introducing the guide, Fitness First Australia National Fitness Manager Michael Cunico explains “people train when they feel like it, letting their emotions, work schedules and lifestyle dictate when they hit the gym. The key to getting the most from your training is listening to what your body is telling you.

“Many people make decisions on when to train based on the ‘science’ behind circadian rhythms, hormone levels and the body’s temperature. But your preference of when to train is equally as important.”

For members wanting to train during extended opening hours, a 24/7 access card is available, while to ensure members feel secure, no matter when they choose to train, a security briefing and induction will be offered to all members who take up the 24/7 membership option.

Initial clubs converting to 24/7 operations include Cronulla, Shelly Street, Erina Fair, North Strathfield and Hornsby in NSW; and Richmond, QV Platinum, Brighton and Victoria Gardens in Victoria,
