Fitness expert joins netball ace to champion FIT Health Insurance
AFL Club Sport Science Director, David Buttifant is teaming up with other high profile sporting identities to promote FIT Health Insurance, the official health insurer of the AFL.
The widely respected sport scientist joins Australian Diamonds squad netballer, Renae Hallinan, as a fitness ambassador for the new health insurance brand.
FIT is the first private health insurer in Australia specifically designed to support and reward people who like to keep fit and stay active and who demand more from their health insurer.
In addition to the usual things a traditional health insurer covers, FIT also gives higher benefits for injuries more likely to occur when playing sport, such as bone fractures, knee arthroscopes and shoulder reconstructions, and an incredible 90% back on physio (as well as 80% back on chiro, podiatry and osteo).
Through FIT Rewards, FIT is also actively encouraging and rewarding healthy behaviour by giving people 'fitness points', which can be used, similar to a loyalty program, to acquire free fitness and sport products, 'money-can't-buy' experiences and entry into major sporting events, thanks to the support of some of Australia's top sporting organisations such as Netball Australia and the AFL.
As a FIT ambassador, Buttifant features prominently on the new FIT website, in training videos and other marketing material. Through the FIT website, Buttifant will provide clinical advice to FIT members on subjects ranging from training and rehabilitation techniques, sports related injury recovery, diet and general fitness tips.
Buttifant will also have a say on future product features and enhancements.
FIT Health Insurance is the brainchild of GMHBA, one of Australia's fastest growing health funds, and is backed by its partners the AFL, AFLMOA, North Melbourne FC, VCFL, EDFL, Netball Australia, Netball Victoria, JLT, GFL, FBL, Kinect Australia, SEABL, Perth Heat, the Australian Physiotherapy Association and Suunto.
FIT helps support the health of sport participants by providing higher benefits for hospital procedures to treat injuries more likely to occur while playing sport or keeping fit, as well as offering up to 90% back on physio, and 80% back on chiro, podiatry, sports psychology and massage expenses.
FIT is also putting significant dollars back into the hands of clubs, fitness facilities and communities, to strengthen and protect the health and wellbeing of Australian grassroots fitness and sport.
Among FIT supporters, SportingPulse General Manager Matthew Cowling explains "SportingPulse is proud to be partnered with FIT Health Insurance as it's designed with our active sports participants in mind. It provides higher benefits to manage and treat injuries more likely to occur while playing the game."
