Fitness Australia announce a record number of professionals seeking election to its Board of Directors
With voting open for elections to its AusREP Members and Business Members between 1st and 18th November 2019, Fitness Australia has announced a record number of candidates contesting for a position on its Board of Directors.
Looking to appoint three new Directors at the Annual General Meeting on 26th November, AusREPs and Business Members have the chance to cast their vote as tomorrow to determine the three candidates who will join Fitness Australia's Board of Directors.
Jayne Blake, Fitness Australia’ Chairperson, advised today, “I’m encouraged by the calibre of nominations we have received, in both the Business Member and AusREP categories
“Having so many talented individuals believe in the work that Fitness Australia is doing and wanting to contribute to the future of our industry and the health of Australians is a testament to the work of our CEO Barrie Elvish and the team over the last year.”
“It’s particularly heartening to see the positive response we’ve received since announcing our recent historic constitutional change that allows for AusREPs to be represented on the Board.”
The Board is responsible for providing strategic leadership to Fitness Australia within a framework of prudent and effective controls and establishing the organisation’s vision, mission, values and standards of conduct in the interests of industry members, stakeholders and the communities in which it operates.
Blake added “I’m confident that whichever applicants are elected by our Members, they will make an extremely valuable contribution to Fitness Australia, and therefore to the broader fitness and wellness industry over the coming years.”
The ballot includes 34 candidates contesting for three positions; 21 AusREP Member candidates are standing for two vacancies, and 13 Business Members candidates are standing for one vacancies.

Voting is open to Fitness Australia’s AusREP Members and Business Members between 1st and 18th November 2019. Members are encouraged to cast their vote using the link in an email that they receive from TrueVote.
Blake concluded “I would like to sincerely thank all applicants and all existing and past Board Members, who all generously volunteer their time. I very much look forward to working with the Board to continue to drive value for our Members and to encourage more Australians to be more active more often."
