First Aid Requirements Streamlined for Exercise Facilities

The New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals has updated its requirements for first aid for both exercise facilities and exercise professionals.
âThe result of the new requirements, which come into effect on 1st October 2009, mean that now all REPs Registered Exercise Facilities need to have at least one first aid trained person on site at all times, whenever they are open to the public, and providing supervision of their facilities,? explains REPs Registrar Stephen Gacsal.
âUp until now the requirements for first aid were all at the exercise professional level, so the new rules put public safety at the top of the list. In addition to the new facilities rules, exercise professionals operating outside of a Registered Exercise Facility must have their own comprehensive first aid certificate, and those operating from within a registered facility require CPR. The key was ensuring that whenever a person was training within a Registered Exercise Facility or with a Registered Exercise Professional, that someone was able to provide first aid quickly, and CPR immediately if needed.?
