Final bridge opens on Melbourne's Peninsula Link Trail

Riders, runners and walkers in the south-east of Melbourne have welcomed the opening of the Peninsula Link Trail's final pedestrian and cycling bridge.
Approximately 17.5 kilometres of the Peninsula Link Trail is now open representing 70% of the total path length.
The sections of the path to be completed in the coming months include the Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve and the southern connection from Baxter to the Mt Eliza Regional Park.
When the path is complete, it will allow people to ride all the way from Moorooduc to Patterson Lakes, and then onto the CBD through various other trails.
Commenting on the bridge opening, Victorian Minister for Roads Terry Mulder stated "since day one of Peninsula Link's opening, we have had rave reviews from cyclists and pedestrians about the new trail, which is opening progressively over the coming months,
"It's helping people to get out and about whether they are walking the dog, walking or riding to school or work, or getting fresh air and exercise outside.
"There are also so many attractions that people can stop at along the Peninsula Link Trail, including McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park, Ballam Park Homestead and Sages Cottage in Baxter.
"This last bridge will make it easier for even more people to use the trail, by connecting Seaford to Carrum Downs and Frankston North."
