Final 600 Commonwealth Games jobs now on offer
The final 600 jobs with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) have been opened for applications.
With less than 250 days until the Games, there are still a wide range of positions to be filled in key areas including Spectator Services, Fleet Operations, Venue Logistics, Arrival and Departure Officers, Venue Protocol and Catering, Cleaning and Waste.
With 6,600 athletes from 70 nations and territories converge on the Gold Coast in April for the biggest sporting event Australia has seen this decade, this current round of GOLDOC recruitment will complete the Games’ large and diversely skilled workforce.
The positions, in both frontline and behind the scenes roles, will being the total GOLDOC workforce to around 1,500.
Explaining that GOLDOC was seeking a range of motivated people with a variety of experience, Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones advised “the first phase of applications opened in May with thousands of applications received and I suspect there will be plenty of interest this phase.
“(It) is a rare opportunity to be a part of delivering a major global event.
GOLDOC Chairman, Peter Beattie AC, said experiences gained and networks created by working at the Games could lead to future work in a wide range of sectors, added “delivering a Games is a massive undertaking and a combination of a great team effort.
“Not only will successful applicants be delivering an event that reaches a broadcast audience of 1.5 billion but they will develop new skills and make contacts to bolster their resume and future job opportunities.”
