FINA announces partnership to aid aquatic facility development

Aquatic sports world governing body FINA has announced a global partnership with aquatics facility design and operations company Counsilman-Hunsaker.

The partnership, which runs through to 2025, will see Counsilman-Hunsaker provide FINA and its Member Federations with innovative design and management solutions to develop state-of-the-art, sustainable aquatic facilities.

Counsilman-Hunsaker will also assist FINA Technical Committees in their work to support refurbishment efforts of existing pools and facilities around the world.

Announcing the partnership, FINA Executive Director, Brent Nowicki stated “we are delighted to partner with Counsilman-Hunsaker for the benefit of FINA’s Member Federations and the entire aquatics family. By partnering with Counsilman-Hunsaker we have an opportunity to transform aquatic venues around the world and ensure that athletes of all ages and abilities have access to the safe, sustainable and world-class facilities they deserve

Counsilman-Hunsaker President, Scott Hester added “we are very much looking forward to working with FINA and the international aquatic sport community to provide a better aquatics experience for people worldwide. We are also excited to bring more than 50 years’ experience in developing state-of-the-art, high-efficiency, and sustainable aquatic facilities, from elite competition to community recreation.

The partnership was announced following the World Aquatics Championships in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.

Counsilman-Hunsaker was founded in 1970 by swimming pioneers James ‘Doc’ Counsilman and Joe Hunsaker.
