FIFA forms panel to elevate fan experience at tournaments and events

World football governing body FIFA has formed a 25-member panel to work with its technology and innovation team with the aim of enhancing the fan experience at tournaments and events.

Comprises members from 17 countries and a variety of backgrounds and industries, the new

Fan Experience Panel will attend workshops, conduct beta tests for new technologies and attend virtual and in-person events.

Working with FIFA’s technology and innovation team, the group will have input on the development and refinement cycle of various technologies that could be used to improve the game and the experience of fans.

The fan experience panel has already attended its first workshop, which included participation from Arsene Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development.

FIFA is among a number of governing bodies looking to its supporters for new ideas and feedback about how to engage with its fans.

For the last two years the National Hockey League (NHL) of the USA has operated a youth advisory board comprising fans aged 13 to 17, who offer feedback to the NHL about marketing of the game, community engagement, rules of play, events and social content.
