FFV backs inaugural National Football Conference
Football Federation Victoria (FFV) has expressed that it is “proud” to be a key collaborator of the inaugural National Football Conference, commencing today at the Pullman Melbourne Albert Park.
Being held as part of the National Sports Convention (NSC) on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st July, the Conference focuses on grassroots football, facilities and identifying the support, strategies and solutions needed to grow the world game and make grassroots clubs more sustainable.
Under the umbrella of the NSC and developed with the Australian fFootball family, the National Football Conference brings together opportunities to learn from global and national leaders and local providers.
Global Keynote Sessions will be shared with the National Sports Convention Conference where delegates will hear insights for the broader community sport and recreation industry, that are also applicable to the football sector.
The Football Plenary Sessions will focus on:
• Growing the Game - Global learnings to local settings will share insights and approaches from Asia, Europe and Australia.
• The Future of Women and Girls in Football - Insights gained from Europe and Australia on how they are strategically focused on and tactically supporting women and girls in Football.
National Sports Convention Conference Streams
Stream 1: People, Programs and Coaching - Successful approaches for specific audiences incorporating traditional and innovative programs and activities to engage and retain children, adolescence and adults in the sport. This session will also explore Academies, alignment with major franchises and partnerships to grow participation.
Stream 2: Facilities - Alternative spaces, surfaces and places to play, what facilities are needed and how can they be planned for the future.
Stream 3: Supporting Sustainable Clubs - Exploring who should be supporting the clubs, from all levels of government, State and Federal Football Peak Bodies and how should that support look. This stream will also focus on how IT can support club’s success and sustainability both on and off the field.
FFV has also figured among 12 Victorian sporting bodies who will share in $4 million in grants to develop community projects and get more Victorians on local playing fields.
The projects will encourage people from migrant and refugee backgrounds to get involved with their local sports clubs, be active and have a go.
FFV will take a 'whole of sport' approach and partner with Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League Clubs Melbourne City FC and Melbourne Victory FC as well as its own FFV-affiliated clubs to reach new communities and increase participation.
The grants program assessed an organisation’s community engagement strategies, including connections with young people, women and those from a refugee or migrant background, as well as the sustainability of their programs.
