Ferrari World Abu Dhabi to open seven new rides

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi plans to add seven new attractions in anticipation of rising visitor numbers after the opening of Yas Mall later this year.

The indoor amusement parks aims to add the rides over the next three years, increasing its capacity by 40%, with construction to start by the end of the year. It also plans to expand three of its 20 existing rides during the same period.

The facility, spread over 86,000 metres2 is currently home to the world’s fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa, which reaches a top speed of 240 kilometres per hour.

Explaining the expansion, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi General Manager Jesse Vargas stated “we are working closely with the mall management team to position ourselves in relation to Yas Mall.

“For any tourism destination it’s all about critical mass and malls make for a compelling destination that people might want to visit for multi-day stay, which we anticipate will happen in Yas Island as well; and guests might want to spend more than one day or two days to visit all the amenities.”

Yas Island, which hosts the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and features seven hotels and the award-winning Yas Waterworld waterpark, will open the 235,000 metre2 Yas Mall in November - , in time for the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix between 20th and 23rd November. The Mall, being built next to Ferrari World, will feature 400 retailers and a 20-screen cinema has been developed by developers Aldar.

Owned by the Abu Dhabi Government, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is operated by Aldar subsidiary Farah Leisure Parks Management.
