Fastpass to get digital transformation at Shanghai Disney Resort
In an initiative that will put an end to queuing up to purchase the tickets at designated service locations, Shanghai Disney Resort has announced that it will be converting its Disney FastPass tickets into a digital format from later this year.
The digital format will see guests simply book and redeem tickets on their mobile devices from anywhere within the theme park, at no extra charge.
Once the digital platform goes live, visitors to Shanghai Disneyland will need to download the resort’s latest version of the official app to access the service.
Philippe Gas, General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort explained “at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we continue to build on our legacy of innovation to take the entire Disney guest experience to another level and provide new ways for our guests to make the most of their visit.
“Since the opening of Shanghai Disneyland in 2016, the response to our world-class attractions and entertainment has been overwhelming. The introduction of the digital FastPass service in the world’s largest mobile market is part of our ongoing commitment to providing Chinese guests with opportunities to further customise their experience and make it even easier to create unforgettable memories with their families and friends.”
Once in the park, visitors simply associate their activated ticket with the app, and then follow the instructions to view, select and reserve a digital Disney FastPass. They can also check the designated return time. When they reach the Disney FastPass entrance of their selected attraction, all they need to do is present the QR code on their device or park ticket for scanning. After the validation of the FastPass, plus the photo identification associated with guests’ park ticket, they will be free to enjoy the faster access to the fun.
According to Shanghai Disney Resort, Disney Premier Access will also be available for purchase through the app. Launched earlier this year, the service gives visitors priority access to participating attractions anytime during their visit.
Seven attractions in Shanghai Disneyland currently offer complimentary Disney FastPass and paid Disney Premier Access. They are Soaring Over the Horizon in Adventure Isle; Roaring Rapids in Adventure Isle; TRON Lightcycle Power Run in Tomorrowland; Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue in Tomorrowland; Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasyland; The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Fantasyland; and Peter Pan’s Flight in Fantasyland
