Expressions of Interest: Tasmania Cradle Mountain Investment Prospectus

The release of the Cradle Mountain EOI Investment Prospectus marks a significant milestone in the revitalisation of the visitor experience at this iconic destination.

The Precinct will become the prime entrance to the national park and wilderness area, as well as the main access point to Dove Lake and the departure point for the world-famous Overland Track.

The Government is offering $5 million to support the development of a world-class village at the Cradle Mountain Gateway Precinct.

The Precinct will also be the departure point for the Cradle Mountain cableway, which has secured $60 million in State and Federal funding.

Development of this world class site will assist in boosting tourism visitation, length of stay and expenditure in the region, and increase long-term job creation and economic returns for North West Tasmania.

The 13.5 hectare site is made up of five parcels of Crown land, which are being offered as leasehold parcels to a developer who can realise the vision of the Cradle Mountain Master Plan.

Potential uses include a unique tourism offering with accommodation, food and beverage outlets, experiential leisure and retail options.

Additional land is being made available for the potential development of staff accommodation, opposite the existing visitor centre.

Proposals should have a strong focus on showcasing Tasmanian artisan producers.

Submissions for the EOI close 5pm Thursday 28th February 2019.

Successful investment partners are expected to be announced in mid-2019.

The Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park is one of Tasmania’s most visited natural icons, attracting about 280,000 visitors during the last financial year. This is expected to grow to up to 339,000 visitors by 2020.
