Expressions of Interest: Cairns Regional Council New Years Eve Celebrations 2011

Cairns Regional Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from any Commercial Ventures who would like to set up a stall and sell products for Cairns New Years Eve Celebrations 2011.

This includes amusement devices, rides and merchandise.

The location will be int the Cairns Esplanade parklands in close proximity to the Esplanade Lagoon.

Cairns City celebrates New Years Eve annually with free family activities and entertainment situated around the Esplanade Lagoon area. Two fireworks shows are held, at 9pm and midnight, with around 15,000 people attending each show.

Free live music entertains the crowds throughout the evening, and for 2011 Diesel and his band will headline the night, supported by a range of local favourite bands. Roving entertainers, fire artists and buskers are engaged to add to the atmosphere, and the main Esplanade roadway is closed off to vehicle traffic to allow the street to be lined with marquees and seating. Local restaurants and bars are approved to extend their service areas out onto the street to allow their clients to get closer to the action.

The event traditionally has a great family atmosphere, with high demand for amusement activities from those that attend. Should operators decide make the journey to Cairns for this event, consideration will also be given to extension of approval to operate outside of the New Years Eve period.

Applications are to be returned by close of business on Monday 31st October 2011.
