Expanded National Sports Convention to explore solutions and infrastructure needed for participation
The 2016 National Sports Convention (NSC) will be a dedicated sport and recreation management conference and exhibition focusing on how to encourage more people to play, recreate and participate in sport and what facilities, solutions and infrastructure are needed to activate and retain them.
Expanded from the former National Sports Surface Convention and Expo (NSSCE) and Power of Sport event, the NSC’s concept and content has been developed with key industry peak bodies and collaborators and will include a number of two day conferences; single day symposiums and masterclasses.
This environment aims to provide the broadest selection of opportunities for the aquatics, facility, fitness, play, recreation and sport sectors to learn from, network with and share best practice experiences.
In addition Australia’s largest sport and recreation exhibition will be available to all delegates and the industry alike.
With the NSSCE having been staged in Sydney on two occasions in the past three years, the NSC will be held at Sydney’s Rosehill Race Course on 23rd and 24th June 2016.
NSC 2016 will have an underlining theme around innovation and wants to encourage the industry to reflect on how it can promote innovation to:
• Develop and promote a greater variety of programs and activities to encourage the community to be healthier and more active, more often;
• Ensure that the infrastructure and places people play, recreate, train and compete at meet the standards necessary but are also inviting and provide an encouraging environment to be active;
• Invest in innovative technology that encourages more organisations to connect with the community and provide technological solutions to activate their clients;
• Innovative partnerships to facilitate and deliver more people playing, being active, training and competing; and
• Develop innovative facilities and products that encourage and allow greater proportion of the community to be active.
In conjunction with Australasian Leisure Management and key Peak Bodies there will be an Industry Awards Networking Evening on the Thursday 23rd June 5pm until 7pm.
The NSC Conference will address this through channels covering:
• Sports Turf
• Playgrounds and Equipment
• Growing Participation
• Aquatic, Recreation and Sport facilities
The NSC 2016 will be collaborating with a range of industry partners to bring a quality outcome including the Aquatic and Recreation Institute (NSW) and the Australian Sporting Goods Association, hosting collaborators who will be co-hosting their own events during the three days including full day symposiums, part day masterclasses and key note speakers.
