Event Cinemas expands 4DX and Double Daybed experiences

Australia’s largest cinema group, Event Cinemas is set to expand its 4DX and Double Daybed experiences across Australia, as part of its commitment to delivering customers numerous experiences under one roof.  

Before the end of 2019 Event Cinemas will open three new 4DX multisensory cinemas and quadruple its footprint of Double Daybeds at select cinema locations across Australia, as well as expanding the offering in New Zealand.

Luke Mackay, Director of Entertainment Australia for Event Hospitality and Entertainment notes, “We don’t believe in a one-experience-fits-all approach to our cinemas or our customers.  We know that our customers want different things at different times, whether that’s a great option for a date night with a luxurious Daybed to curl up on, or an action-pack, fully immersive experience.

“We’ve led the way with our 4DX concept and our Double Daybeds. We are thrilled now to be expanding the experiences to more Australians, offering even greater choice in more locations, ensuring our guests can choose exactly how they want to experience the magic of the movies”.

Hugely popular across Asia and the United States, 4DX cinemas offer audiences the chance to enjoy movie blockbusters in a fully-immersive, sensory experience. Features of the four-dimensional cinema include specially designed motion chairs that move to match the action on-screen and feature vibration effects, facial water jets and air jets. 4DX also showcases environmental effects including lightning, ticklers, wind, fog, scents and rain.

Mackay adds, “With 4DX, for the first time, what is seen on-screen is complemented by what you physically feel, smell and see inside the theatre. From the smell of fresh coffee to weather effects like rain, or roaring thunder and lightning, 4DX takes all the elements on-screen and immerses you in the world you’re watching.

“We’ve had phenomenal success with our flagship 4DX experience at our George Street site in Sydney and we are thrilled to be able to take this experience into Queensland and into a second Sydney site”.

The new 4DX cinemas will launch this December at Event Cinemas Pacific Fair and Event Cinemas Chermside in Queensland and Event Cinemas Parramatta in New South Wales.

Event Cinemas are expanding their Double Daybeds in 15 new locations before the end of the year. Positioned at the front of the cinema for a perfect unobstructed view, Double Daybeds offer the ultimate movie watching experience.
