Etihad Stadium to install new giant screens

Melbourne's Etihad Stadium will provide fans with a greater experience at events with the installation of two new state-of-the-art video boards.

The new screens will be 30% larger than the existing screens at the Docklands venue and will display more impressive statistics, replays, animations and information during matches.

The screen replacement is a part of the first phase of a technology upgrade of the stadium which will also include 180 new flat screens for the Level 1 seating bowl.

Etihad Stadium Chief Executive Paul Sergeant says the news is exciting for all fans, stating "our patrons have so many choices available to view sport that venues need to ensure they are providing fans with the ultimate experience at events."

After a six-month worldwide search, Etihad Stadium has selected Daktronics to supply the two high-definition LED screens. Daktronics is the world leader in dynamic audio visual entertainment systems and currently supplies seven of the nine major AFL venues including the Melbourne Crickt Ground, Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast and the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The installation will take place through the summer and will be completed by the start of the 2014 AFL season.
