Emerton Leisure Centre turns five!

Tomorrow (Saturday 10th September) will see the Emerton Leisure Centre in western Sydney celebrate its fifth birthday with a huge community celebration.
The Blacktown City Council Centre first opened to the community in August 2006 after undergoing an intense $15 million refurbishment and design process, transforming it from a local pool into a state-of-the-art facility featuring indoor pools, spray jets and spa-seats, waterslide, program pools, two multi-purpose indoor sports courts with spectator seating, beach volleyball court, change room facilities, fully operation caf� area, an outdoor Olympic pool, playground and picnic areas.
Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Alan Pendleton explains "Emerton Leisure Centre has become a popular venue (in) the local community over the past five years, offering a place to enjoy with their families and friends for an affordable price.
"Not only is the Centre a place to enjoy but it is also setting the benchmark in areas of water safety having won the 2008 NSW AUSTSWIM Small Swim School of the Year and nominated for the 2009 National AUSTSWIM Awards for Swim School of the Year - both of which are a credit to the Centre's staff."
The local community are encouraged to be part of the birthday celebrations and join in the festivities.
The Centre provides a variety of programs and services that have widespread appeal, access and equity. Among its latest additions, the Centre is launching the world wide dance fitness class sensation Zumba for Kids from Monday 15th September.
Designed exclusively for children aged between four and 12 years, the 30 minute latin-inspired Zumbatomic classes are high-energy fitness-parties packed with specially choreographed, child-friendly routines feature music that youngsters love.
Zumbatomic is the second Zumba class to join the Emerton Leisure Centre timetable with Adult Zumba launching at the Centre in May this year, running on Wednesdays at 9.45am and Mondays at 6pm.
