Eden Park takes a lead on handling vaping in crowds
Auckland venue Eden Park and Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand (formerly the Health Promotion Agency) have commenced working together on a pilot to develop a policy and guidance for vaping in crowds that can then be rolled out across all New Zealand venues.
Explaining the challenge, Eden Park Trust Chief Executive, Nick Sautner stated "unfortunately, the challenge with vaping seems to relate more to the ability to conceal the activity, in contrast to smoking where there is a prolonged process.
"It’s very difficult to identify who the culprit is as the action is over basically as soon as it’s begun."
With many venues having to deal with vaping, feedback will be invited and trials commenced before guidelines are made available.
New Zealand's Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990 regulates vaping products and smokeless tobacco products.
