Dunedin City Council to commence upgrades to Moana Pool ceiling
Dunedin City Council has advised it is set to commence work on a section of ceiling at Moana Pool, as part of its latest phase of refurbishments. The project is among a range of significant recent improvements, including new wall tiles, upgraded family change facilities, changes to plant/equipment areas and new fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
The installation of a new ceiling in the area between the main pool and the leisure pool starts 14th July and is expected to be completed in October.
The work will be completed in sections. The first section extends from the staff entrance door to the elevator. During this time, there will be changes to access leading to the leisure and spa pools (from the main pool area).
The spa pool will remain operational, but access to the spa will be limited to stair use only. The leisure pool’s lazy river, curtains and waterfalls will be inaccessible while work is underway.
Heath Ellis, DCC Group Manager Parks and Recreation noted “we acknowledge the current refurbishment work will be inconvenient for some users. We will do our best to minimise disruption as we continue a programme of work that aims to improve a much-loved community facility.”
