Dubai's Global Village aims to welcome five million people in 157 days

Having received over one million visitors in its first four weeks of operation, Dubai's annual Global Village is on track to welcome five million guests during its current season.

Dubai’s leading family entertainment and cultural attraction opened its doors to the public on 6th November for its 19th season and has witnessed a phenomenal response to its newly enhanced entertainment offerings, investment in new infrastructure and landscaping and the introduction of its mascot, Globo.

Linking attractions and family entertainment with a unique shopping experience at 31 pavilions each representing a different country, Global Village also offers a variety of dining options.

Commenting on the success of the latest edition of the United Arab Emirate’s most popular family entertainment event, Global Village Chief Operating Officer Ahmed Hussain stated “it has been our most successful opening ... to date and shows that the attraction of the Global Village for families is as strong as ever.

“We are expecting five million visitors this season but in less number of days as the show will last for 157 days.”

Sharing the latest updates on the Global Village, he said new initiatives introduced this season received positive feedback from visitors, comprising 80% residents and 20% tourists.

Referring to the charismatic mascot Globo and special shows for children, he said it has become a new facet of the Global Village.

Hussain also highlighted the new attractions - Al Remal Pit, Prehistoric Oceanic, Animal Land and Illumination World - and said these new initiatives are already proving hugely popular to visiting families.

Hussain explained “55% of our visitors are Arabs, while the UAE accounts for about 17% of it.

“Asian families are the second major visitors to the entertainment park with 33% of the total numbers,” adding that average age of visitors is just 29.

This year a joint marketing initiative the Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has led to increases in Russian and Chinese guest numbers.

Hussain concluded “we are also totally aligned with the Dubai Government’s vision of helping to attract 20 million tourists a year to the emirate by 2020 and to also leverage the impact the hosting of the Dubai 2020 Expo will have on the city.”

Launched in 1997, the 19th Global Village runs until 11th April 2015.
