Dreamworld announces winter promotions and reconciliation activities
Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld has announced a series of initiatives to boost visitation through the winter months, including special offer passes and late night openings.
Australia’s largest theme park has launched a ‘Buy 3 Get 1 Free Season Pass sale’, giving unlimited entry to Dreamworld, WhiteWater World and SkyPoint until 30th June 2018.
The offer, payable by periodic payments, gives full access to all of the memorable experiences planned for Dreamworld, WhiteWater World and SkyPoint over the next 12 months, including the opening of several new attractions and events.
In addition, those who visit the park with their pass before 30th June 2017 will receive $25 per person to spend on food and beverages.
Having stayed open until 9pm on Saturday 27th May for the theme park’s annual Star Wars Stormtrooper event a series of other evening opening events will be held over the coming months.
This will include the launch of Park After Dark events for the school holidays on Saturday 24th June.
The first of official Park After Dark event will present ‘Thrillathon’ giving guests access to rides and entertainment across the park between 6.30pm and 9pm.
National Reconciliation Week
As one of South East Queensland’s largest employers of indigenous Australians, Dreamworld is one of three organisations on the Gold Coast to create a Reconciliation Action Plan to support and recognise the importance of reconciliation in Australia.
During the current Reconciliation Week (being held from 27th May to 3rd June), Dreamworld is hosting a range of activities to mark the two milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey - the 1967 referendum and the historic Mabo decision.
To encourage people to reflect on these two significant events, Dreamworld is holding a series of cultural presentations for guests as well as interactive activities for the whole family including face painting, boomerang cookie decorating and canvas painting.
The activities will be held in Dreamworld’s Corroboree area, which is home to indigenous cultural activities and about 500 native Australian animals.
Presto’s Café, owned by NRL star Preston Campbell, opened at Dreamworld last year, giving young indigenous Australians hospitality training and employment opportunities, and will also play a key role in National Reconciliation Week serving bush-tucker style foods.
A media event to launch these activities scheduled for today has been postponed until Friday 9th June, due to the death of Dreamworld’s matriarch tiger Sita.
