Doyalson-Wyee RSL Club to open new Active Fitness facility
As part of a series of updates to meet the needs of its changing membership and local demographic, the Doyalson-Wyee RSL club on the NSW Central Coast is to open a state-of-the-art fitness facility.
Part of a masterplan to update the club, the Active Fitness facility at ‘The Doylo’ will feature advanced fitness and classes, a fully managed crèche and convenient off street parking.
The 24/7 facility will also aim to offer affordable and flexible membership packages.
The Club, which celebrated its 50th anniversary on Christmas Eve last years, began a $4.1 million transformation in January which included a new entry, reception and foyer area; a new cenotaph; new sports bar; realigned internal recreation areas, larger car park and improved lighting.
The fitness facility is part of the second stage of upgrades that began following the 100th anniversary of ANZAC celebrations in April.
Doyalson-Wyee RSL Club General Manager Darren Thornton explained “the community is growing and so is our catchment – clubs can no longer rely on the core business they are used to, but need to diversify.”
Thornton said the masterplan had been developed following extensive research and business studies aimed at finding out what the community wanted.
He added “one of the things we identified was a lack of gym facilities in the northern part of the region, so our next stage of renovations will see the establishment of a new undercover al fresco dining area and beer garden, with a gym and wellness centre underneath it.”
The new gym, which is currently selling advanced memberships and recruiting staff, is expected to open before Christmas.
The gym was designed, and is being equipped, by Life Fitness.
