Dorry Kordahi steps down from role as Illawarra Hawks President

Dorry Kordahi, President of the Illawarra Hawks since its return to the NBL, has announced that he is stepping down from the role, citing the need to focus more time and attention on his other businesses and endeavours.

Kordahi, who is only relinquishing his operational duties and will remain in the Hawks’ ownership group, is credited with starting the Hawks in Business Program and influencing the recruitment of head coach Brian Goorjian to the club in 2020.

As reported by Sydney newspaper The Daily Telegraph, Kordahi remains “committed as a co-owner” of the Hawks in the immediate future.

Former Hawks star and Australian Boomer, Mat Campbell, will take the title of acting President for community-related activities.

The club’s ownership group also announced their commitment to helping the club thrive in the Illawarra, with the recruitment process for a new President underway.
