Darwin Convention Centre to host 2024 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards
Darwin has been named as the host city for this year’s Qantas Australian Tourism Awards set to be held at the Darwin Convention Centre in Darwin’s Waterfront Precinct on 15th March 2024.
The Territory’s tourism industry is on track for another successful year, with host Darwin Convention Centre, shortlisted in the Business Events Venue category.
Darwin Convention Centre General Manager Peter Savoff shared “to be shortlisted as a finalist and recognised nationally is a testament to the hard-work and dedication of our entire team, and the ongoing support we receive from our industry partners and stakeholders. We couldn’t be more proud to be a finalist and represent Darwin on the national stage in our respective category.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome our esteemed colleagues, industry leaders and visitors from across the nation to showcase the best of what the Top End offers.”
The awards will unite Australia’s tourism industry and celebrate premier tourism businesses from across the country.
This is the second time Darwin has been selected as the host city having hosted in 2017, with this year’s awards expected to attract over 700 delegates who will attend the Awards and have an opportunity explore Darwin.
The Australian Tourism Awards are the country's peak awards program that recognise excellence in tourism across 26 business categories with the finalists representing the winners from each State and Territory.
Representing the Northern Territory will be the 22 NT business category winners from the 2023 Brolga Awards, the NT’s official tourism awards program that recognises tourism businesses that strive for excellence.
The Northern Territory was a strong performer at last year’s event with Territory businesses receiving 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze awards.
NT Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Joel Bowden enthused “We are delighted to be hosting Australia’s premier tourism event in Darwin this year, allowing us to showcase our beautiful Top End to industry experts and professionals from around the country.
“The Northern Territory is a business events destination like no other, from our unique locations and experiences to our people and hospitality, all of which make us a competitive and desirable location to host business events.
“The tourism industry is a key contributor to the local economy, creating work for our local tourism operators, retailers and the hospitality industry.”
Tickets for the Australian Tourism Awards are on sale now until the 23rd February.
