Cruising Yacht Club of Australia unveils new-look Sydney Clubhouse
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, home of the world-famous Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, has unveiled a new-look Clubhouse at its traditional home in Darling Point, Sydney.
Yesterday’s historic unveiling of the renovated Clubhouse, more than three years in the making, saw the Club’s longest serving male and female Members, Michael York OAM and Joyce Warn, with over 135 years of loyalty between them, officially open the refurbished Clubhouse.
Commodore Paul Billingham opened the proceedings with recognition of the pair, as well as the Gabrielle Upton Member for Vaucluse and NSW Minister for the Environment, Commodores of fellow yacht clubs attending, dignitaries and of course our Members.
Speaking on the rich history the Club, Commodore Billingham thanked all those who had helped realise this herculean project.
From the vision of Directors to the tireless efforts of contractor Belmadar, the dedication of its staff to the support and understanding of Members, the Club has now delivered on its promise of being a world-class venue as well as a perpetual proponent of sailing in this country, and around the globe.
