Creative Australia launches Giving Day to the Arts

Creative Australia has announced the introduction of a new initiative - Giving Day to the Arts - designed to elevate the public value of the arts in the consciousness of everyday Australians and to support fundraising by artists and small to medium arts organisations.

Aiming to increase the visibility of arts philanthropy and encourage greater generosity in support of the arts, the fundraising will take place on one national day - scheduled for Thursday 23rd October 2025.

The program will provide micro-grants for the creation of digital content for your Giving Day to the Arts fundraising campaign, complemented by a series of workshops and coaching sessions to help maximise campaign delivery.

While Australia’s cultural and creative industries contribute $21.8 billion to the nation’s Australia’s Gross Domestic Product and employ nearly 500,000 people, in 2021 only $204 million was donated to organisations advancing culture against a total annual charitable giving by Australians of more than $13 billion.

This low proportion of investment into arts philanthropy does not reflect that 97% of all Australians engage in the arts while 84% recognise the positive individual and broader social impacts of creative engagement.

Creative Australia will facilitate the following free professional development opportunities dedicated to supporting participants of the Giving Day to the Arts.
