Contract awarded to develop Tasmania’s Dial Range Loop trail

The new Dial Range Loop located in Northwest Tasmania is one step closer following the award of a contract to develop the first stage of the project.

Tasmanian contractor, Next Level Mountain Pty Ltd, will construct five new sections of track from Montgomery to Mount Dial.

The Mount Dial Walking Track will be two kilometres long, and feature steps, a benched track, and a 15-metre-long aluminium bridge.

The new tracks will vary in both distance and difficulty, so visitors will have multiple ways to explore the Dial Range

Tasmanian Minister for Parks, Nick Duigan said the works will deliver a better visitor experience in the picturesque Dial Range and noted “as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’ve invested $1.6 million over four years to improve recreation opportunities in the Dial Range."

Other stages of the project include an all-access boardwalk along McBrides Creek in Ferndene State Reserve, and a walking track from the summit of Mount Dial to Mount Gnomon.

Welcoming the announcement was Central Coast Mayor Cheryl Fuller who enthused

“we are thrilled that the Tasmanian Government is investing $1.6 million into our magnificent Dial Range recreation area.

“The Dial is an incredible location and understated highlight of North West Tasmania. This new bushwalking circuit will only enhance the appreciation and enjoyment of this beautiful landscape.”

Works on stage one of the project will soon commence.

The Dial Range will remain open to visitors with some areas around Mount Montgomery fenced off where the works are taking place.
