Community invited to launch of new Sandover Medal Walk and revitalised Subi Oval
The Western Australian Government is inviting the community to celebrate one of the state’s most exciting urban renewal projects - the new Sandover Medal Walk and the redevelopment of Subi Oval.
The public are invited to attend Rediscover Subi East: A Free Family Fun Day on Sunday the 26th of November with the event to feature live entertainment from local WA talent, Eagles and Dockers kick-to-kick, games and competitions, and food and drinks vendors from the local area.
Eventgoers will be able to get a first look at features designed to reflect the site's rich football history, including the new and improved Sandover Medal Walk featuring the names of the winners of the iconic Sandover Medal, awarded to the best and fairest WAFL footballer each year.
The opening of the new public realm around the Oval marks one of the first major development milestones at the iconic Subi East project.
WA Planning Minister John Carey noted "Western Australians will soon have access to quality new infill housing in one our State's most desirable areas, sitting between the town centres of West Leederville and Subiaco and on the doorstep of the CBD.
"A recent national survey conducted by Place Score has named Subiaco as the most liveable local government in Australia. The new oval redevelopment will enhance the area even further.
"The opening event will be the first demonstration of the value Subi East will bring to the community, its people and visitors, and businesses in the area.
"I look forward to joining the community in making new memories at Subiaco Oval and celebrating the history, heritage and culture throughout the thoughtfully designed precinct."
