Clark Kirby outlines vision for Topgolf’s Australian expansion
Clark Kirby, Chief Executive and Executive Chairman of Village Roadshow Theme Parks has today outlined plans to open multiple Topgolf venues across the country.
Speaking at the 2018 Golf Business Forum in Melbourne, and with Village Roadshow having opened Australia’s first Topgolf venue on the Gold Coast last month, Kirby explained how the mix of golf, hospitality and family entertainment had been highly successful in the six weeks since its opening.
Replacing Topgolf International Chief Operating Officer Zach Shor, who had been listed in the conference program as a speaker but who had left the US-based organisation last month, Kirby (pictured below) explained how the introduction of Topgolf broadens Village Roadshow’s entertainment product.
With Village having entered into a joint venture with US-based Topgolf, Kirby also outlined the Group’s plans to open a number of Topgolf facilities accross the country.
Built on six hectares of land next to Warner Bros. Movie World theme park on the Gold Coast, the new sports entertainment experience is part of a plan to revitalise the Oxenford site with a nine-storey hotel and lakeside precinct with restaurants and bars.
Topgolf and Village Roadshow are also discussing joint venue opportunities in Asian markets.
Founded in 2000, Topgolf is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and operated with considerable success in the US and international markets.
