Cindy Cook named Chief Executive of Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Organising Committee

The Queensland Government has announced American Cindy Hook as the Chief Executive of Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Organising Committee.

Cook is a former Chief Executive of Deloitte Australia and will make Brisbane her home to help deliver the Games.

Hook first moved to Australia in 2009 before becoming Chief Executive of Deloitte Australia six years later.

She then took on the same role for Deloitte Asia Pacific, relocating to Singapore in 2018.

Brisbane 2032 President Andrew Liveris said Hook’s experience with the professional services firm, which joined the International Olympic Committee’s flagship The Olympic Partner sponsorship scheme earlier this year, would be key to preparations for the Games.

Liveris commented "her track record at Deloitte Australia and Deloitte Asia Pacific speaks for itself.

"Not to mention her ability to grow revenues and manage expenses and a lot of people.

"These sorts of qualities came through, as did her desire and passion.

"Getting an Olympics offer is really life-changing."

Today has also seen Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk sworn in as Premier and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, fulfilling a commitment given to Paralympics Australia to make the change before the end of the year.

Premier Palaszczuk stated “being Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games gives the recognition the Paralympic Games deserves.

“I look forward to continuing to work together on this once-in-lifetime opportunity for Queensland and Australia.”

Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles has been sworn in as Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympic and Paralympic Games Infrastructure.
