China National Convention Centre Set To Open
China's largest conference venue, the China National Convention Centre (CNCC), is due to open.
Located in the heart of Beijing's Olympic Green, the new venue stands next to the Beijing Olympic Stadium, the National Aquatic Centre and the National Indoor Stadium.
With 22,000 metres2 of exhibition space, the multi-function facility features a plenary hall with seating capacity for 6,000, a grand ballroom able to accommodate up to 3,000 and 100 meeting rooms of various sizes, ideal for congresses, meetings, incentives and other events.
The complex also features two 14-floor commercial towers, more than 1,000 parking spaces and direct links to Beijing's main subway lines.
The venue served as the main press centre, international broadcasting centre and site for fencing and pistol-shooting competitions during the Olympics. The centre, owned and operated by the state-owned Beijing North Star Co., has been under renovation since the end of the 2008 Paralympics.
CNCC has reported it already has 173 events booked for the venue's first five years of operation, events expected to bring 320,000 attendees to Beijingâincluding 56 international and 66 national association congresses, and several government and corporate meetings.
2008 Olympics will put the spotlight on Beijing. China National Convention Centre (CNCC) will also attract world's attention since it will serve by the end of 2009 Olympic Games as the Main Press Centre (MPC), International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) and also the site for the fencing and shooting competitions.
