Children hospitalised after exposure to fumes at Macksville Memorial Aquatic and Fitness Centre
Safework NSW is investigating an incident at the Macksville Memorial Aquatic and Fitness Centre that led to four children being rushed to hospital.
NSW Police were called to the mid north coast facility at around 9:30am on Monday morning after reports children had been exposed to excess fumes.
They told the ABC the fumes were suspected to be the result of a chemical overdose of the indoor pool.
In a statement, the Nambucca Valley Council said NSW Police had closed the pool as investigations continued, and it could not comment further.
The Macksville Memorial Aquatic and Fitness Centre posted on its Facebook page confirming the pools would remain closed, with its gym facilities reopening to the public as of today (Tuesday 21st May).
