Changing the way Australians approach weight loss
Mindful of Australia’s obesity epidemic and that most people join fitness clubs to lose weight, the Australian Institute of Weight Loss Consultants is aiming to “change the face of Australia's weight loss industry.”
As Australian Institute of Weight Loss Consultants (AIWLC) Founder Sonja Bella explains “for years, health and fitness professionals have been encouraging Australians to adopt a healthier lifestyle but, with obesity rates more than doubling in the last 20 years, it is clear that our current approach is not working.”
Based on her own life experience, Bella has a personal mission to help Australia overcome the current obesity epidemic.
She explains, “individuals often find weight loss and weight management a difficult process as current industry professionals mainly deal with one area of the problem: nutrition; exercise or the psychological factors that contribute to weight gain.”
The AIWLC exists to train and educate consultants to understand all aspects of the weight loss journey, based on Bella's vision to change the face of the Australian weight loss industry to bring a more holistic approach to weight loss.
Through giving consultants complete knowledge in all elements of weight loss and weight management, the AIWLC allows them to ensure their clients' weight loss journeys are successful in the long term. These consultants give individuals the opportunity to have one health professional to turn to for all of their weight loss needs.
The AIWLC’s approach is an exciting new way to deal with weight management in Australia and Bella hopes to expand her battle against the obesity epidemic beyond Australia, with an ultimate goal to turn the epidemic around globally.
The AIWLC offers certificate and diploma level qualifications to help professionals advance their weight loss career or business.
Bella and the AIWLC have also developed a series of Weight Loss Leaders Summits, to introduce professionals to the world of weight loss consulting. The seminars are being held across Australia in May and September:
14th May - Brisbane
15th May - Sydney
16th May - Melbourne
17th September - Gold Coast
18th September - Adelaide
19th September - Perth
