Carolyn Turnbull resigns from role as Tourism WA Managing Director

Carolyn Turnbull has announced she is resigning from her role as Tourism WA Managing Director within the Western Australian Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) to pursue new opportunities.

As a former Perth Airport executive, Turnbull was appointed as Tourism WA’s new Managing Director for a five-year term commencing in October 2021.

Turnbull joined Tourism WA in 2020 as the Executive Director – Industry, Aviation and Markets.

The State Government has thanked Turnbull for her contribution to tourism in Western Australia, having played a major role in the State's strong recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under Turnbull's leadership, Tourism WA has achieved significant milestones, including the launch of Western Australia's new global tourism brand Walking on a Dream, the resumption or launch of nonstop flights between 19 international destinations and securing major exclusive events such as Coldplay and the WWE.

These initiatives were undoubtedly pivotal in contributing to WA's economy and achieving a record $17.7 billion in visitor spend last year.

JTSI will undertake an extensive search for its new managing director shortly.

In the interim, Tourism WA executive director, strategy and engagement Stephanie Underwood will act in the role of managing director.

Turnbull's final day at Tourism WA will be Friday, 10th May.
