Cairns’ Tanks Arts Centre to receive new catering hub

As part of an infrastructure renewal program, Cairns Regional Council has approved the construction of a new catering hub and storage facility at the Tanks Arts Centre with Brendan Grant Master Builders Pty Ltd having been awarded the construction contract and works to be completed by April 2022.

The $1.3 million project includes the demolition of an ageing and degraded building adjacent to Tank 3 and the construction of a new a facility to provide catering and on-site storage.

The new building includes a fully self-contained catering room that will remove the need for hire of temporary infrastructure for events, along with a work area and storage facilities for plant and equipment.

As part of the project, gate 3 into the precent will be widened to provide accessibility for large vehicles and improve unloading and equipment movement and enhance safety.
