Busselton Says Goodbye to Nautical Lady

After 30 years as a much loved tourist attraction in the Western Australian town of Busselton, Nautical Lady Entertainment World has officially closed its doors.

David and Jenny Couch, who built the attraction from the ground up, reached an agreement with the Shire of Busselton which will see the fun park deconstructed, leaving only the 20 metre high Lighthouse Tower.

The remainder of the foreshore site will be redeveloped.

The Couch's will retain the lease of the lighthouse, which will be fully renovated and updated into a new and improved cafe, which will continue to sell Simmo's icecream.

Nautical Lady Proprietor David Couch explained "we've had so much fun running Nautical Lady and its been such a big part of our lives, but its time for a change.

"We are really excited about developing the new cafe inside the lighthouse.

"This is one of the last lighthouses built in the world and it offers spectacular views across Geographe Bay and our recently rebuilt two kilometre long Busselton Jetty where people can ride a train out to sea and visit the Underwater Observatory. I think people will really enjoy our new venue."

David Couch said it was sad to see the attraction close, but reflected fondly on the years entertaining visitors and locals alike on the foreshore.

Crouch added "we've seen hundreds of thousands of people through our door and employed over 400 staff. It certainly will be sadly missed."

All attractions at Nautical Lady Entertainment World are for sale and can be viewed at www.nauticallady.com
